  • Domain and Hosting Responsibilities

Renewal of the domain remains the responsibility of the client. This needs to be renewed annually to keep your site alive. Failure to renew your domain before it expires will result in the website and emails going offline. The hosting will remain in place and will continue to be charged until the client cancels their hosting plan. Hosting and domain charges and services are completely different. Even if the domain has expired, the hosting is still performing its duty by keeping all of the data hosted on the server; unless this is cancelled, it will continue to be renewed automatically in line with the hosting subscription.

Allowing your domain or intentionally allowing your domain to expire does not automatically cancel your hosting, nor does Creative Locker take action based upon an expired domain as an intention to cancel hosting. Many occasions arise where domains expire and are renewed shortly after because a client has unintentionally let it expire or forgotten to renew.

Cancelling the hosting can be done at any time through your account here: https://creativelocker.co.uk/my-account and remains the responsibility of the customer. Should the customer fail to cancel and the hosting has continued to renew automatically, your data has still been stored, the server is still effectively being rented, and we will not be held responsible or offer any reimbursements or refunds for the months the customer feels they did not need hosting or months following their domain expiring and not showing the website that is being stored on our hosting due to not renewing a domain name.

We give ample notification when a domain is due to expire and when it needs renewing. At this point, if the customer decides to let it expire, it is their responsibility to also cancel the subsequent hosting or inform us they no longer wish to keep the site, and we will remind them to cancel the hosting. Letting a domain just expire does not automatically notify Creative Locker of the customer’s intention to cancel the domain and hosting. Without communication from the customer regarding cancellation, services will continue to be charged, and Creative Locker will not assume expiry means cancellation of hosting.
